Week Two: Spinning Tales And Weaving Webs
Long lasting connections exist between storytelling and cloth making, evident in expressions such as weaving tales, spin a yarn, even the words text and textile with same root in Latin ‘texere’, to weave. In ancient Rome the processes of spinning and weaving were regarded with superstitious awe. Women were not allowed to hold a spindle in public for it was considered bad luck to see a woman spinning. |
Week Three: The Missing Grandmother
Youth sells. Age does not. A big part of this is our reluctance to face the inevitability of death. But our willingness to accept aging and dying, our total lack of power over our own existence, invites us all to experience a life grounded in the wisdom of the earth and the cycles of nature. |
